SANJA MATSURI, one of the greatest and historical Shinto festival in Tokyo.

Today, let us introduce an annual big MATSURI (festival) in Tokyo to you.
SANJA MATSURI will be held in this weekend at Asakusa area.
This is one of the greatest and historical Shinto festival in Tokyo.
It is expected that over 1.5 million people will join this festival.

One of the high point scene is On 19th 12:00PM.
Approximately 100 MIKOSHI will gather at Sensoji!!!
*Schedule: May 18 (Fri.), 2012 – May 20 (Sun.), 2012

<May 18 (Fri.)>
From 1:00 p.m. Large procession (cancelled in case of rain)
From 2:20 p.m. Binzasara Dance (shrine pavilion)
From 3:00 p.m. Binzasara Dance (Kaguraden pavilion)
From 3:30 p.m. Ceremony to invest the mikoshi of each town with divine spirits
<May 19 (Sat.)>
From 10:00 a.m. Annual festival ceremony
From 12:00 p.m. Town mikoshi association parades
From 4:00 p.m. Dance offering (Kaguraden pavilion)
From 5:00 p.m. Miko (shrine maiden) Dance (Kaguraden pavilion)
<May 20 (Sun.)>
From 6:00 a.m. Main shrine mikoshi leave the shrine
Main shrine mikoshi parade through each town
From 2:00 p.m. Miko (shrine maiden) Dance (Kaguraden pavilion)
From 3:00 p.m. Dance offering (Kaguraden pavilion)
From 4:00 p.m. Taiko drum performance (shrine precincts)
11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. A festival plaza will be set up from Kaminarimon Street to Basha Street (by the Asakusa Tourism Alliance)
*Traffic is controlled
From 8:00 p.m.  Main shrine mikoshi return to the shrine
After the mikoshi return, a ceremony will be held to return the divine spirits from the main shrine mikoshi
